Was yesterday… Again I’ve managed to forget! So here’s a black and white to start off the week. This was taken in the entrance to the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography ‘Syabi’. Hasselblad 500 CM, Zeiss Planar T* 80mm f/2.8, Ilford Delta 3200 film.

While I’m back in New Zealand the other half of St Clair Photography is still in Tokyo for a few more weeks. Eiko has been shooting friends in and around Tokyo, I absolutely love this photograph. It’s nice to see a fresh perspective that differs from my own, where I would probably focus on the subject here she has focused on the background which I think has made the photograph a lot stronger. This was taken on a Ricoh GR1-s which we picked up about a month ago. It’s a little 35mm film camera and the lens is razor sharp. Ricoh GR1-s, Ilford XP2 Super 400 film.

Singapore – Beaches and Friends

Here’s a handful more of our trip to Singapore. It was great to catch up with our Flickr buddies DOVEVADER and Miss Maomao (second photo). Who would have known that Singapore has beaches… They were actually not too bad except for the dirty water… I’m not sure I’m a fan of plastic drink bottles when I swim.

Some more holiday photos from Singapore. These show the Singapore Flyer and some of the amazing views that can be seen from it. A couple of photos also show the area down by the “Merlion” statue. On another note yesterday we bought a Contax 645 Medium Format camera which I have been shooting all day with. I’m looking forward to getting the films developed and scanned to post up here.

We just returned from an amazing but lightening quick trip to Singapore. It was amazing and I loved what I saw. I only wish we could have spent more time there. The thing I loved most about it was as a New Zealander I really appreciated the diversity of cultures there. This post contains a few images which show the diversity I’m talking about. Over the next week I will be posting up travel photographs and portraits from the trip, also hopefully soon I can get the films developed from a Hasselblad I borrowed from Francis. Anyway I hope you enjoy the coming blog posts.

Looking through the portrait shoot with Em I just keep stumbling on gems. I can attribute most of that to her modeling talent and vibrant personality. These were shot under a train overpass. During a portrait session it’s really helpful to be as relaxed as possible so that you can really let your true self show through in the photos. As a reader has pointed out I haven’t been posting as much lately as well as being slack on the written side of blogging. I have recently just bought a couple of new lenses which I look forward to using next weekend when we head to Singapore for a few days. So again, my apologies for not posting that much recently, but check out our new website that I have been working on quite a bit lately.
