I thought I would break up the wedding photography with a quick post from Tokyo. I shot this for Viviane three days before leaving Tokyo in Daikanyama. I love the feeling I get when looking at this photograph, it feels really warm although it was shot in the middle of winter. I’ll post some more up from this shoot this week. I hope you all had a great weekend, great enough to get you through this working week. Hasselblad 500 CM, Fuji Pro 400H, Fuji Frontier scan.
Summer in the middle of winter
February 9, 2010 - 4:31 pm - i found your site/blog via flickr (did a search for film wedding photography) & i must admit - you're work is breathtaking & inspiring. i'm fairly new to photography & while i've done a handful of engagement shoots i'm still 'testing' the waters....though i think shooting weddings, at least part-time, is what i'd like to aim for. i've also never shot film but recently thought i'd consider learning and looking into it since i've always loved the look and have found myself trying to make my digital files have that 'look'. to see someone who shoots film & such beautiful results is inspiring. i see in your first post in feb.09 is when you announced starting your business - have you really only been in business for a year? were you shooting before that?
February 9, 2010 - 7:45 pm - Hi Kay, thanks for your kind words. Shooting film is easier than you think and very rewarding in terms of the results you get. However it can be very costly when it comes to getting good quality scans done. If you're only shooting personal work and not making money from the photography it becomes very costly. But it has it's advantage that you don't need to buy new digital cameras every year as they become outdated, and you can pick up some great film cameras cheap compared to having to spend a lot of money on pro digital cameras. Anyway I think that whether it's digital or film, it doesn't matter as long as it's the best medium for your business model or photography. Oh and check out Inside Analog Photo Radio through iTunes, awesome podcast to learn about film and how to shoot it.
February 10, 2010 - 4:34 am - thanks! i've been listening to inside analog for the past few days downloading several podcasts - they are really great. again, your work is really fabulous.
