New Work New Scanner

I had a great afternoon last weekend photographing Christy. We went out to Raglan, the wind was roaring but managed to get some great shots. This is one of my favourites from the day. This is the first lot of photos I’ve run through my new Epson V700 film scanner and I’m loving the results! More to come this week. Contax 645, Zeiss Planar T* 80mm f/2, Fuji Pro 400H, self scan Epson V700.

March 15, 2010 - 10:13 pm Ali - hey man, indeed very nice add. Something extra i love about these fine green tones, skin tones are so nice really. Congratulations on your new Epson scanner! it is a fantastic machin for too little money, I had the V750 about a year now, and quite lyrical over the quality I get out of medium format work. great site my friend.

March 16, 2010 - 9:27 am Jason - Hey Ali, thanks a lot. I've yet to try the scanner with 35mm film but will be soon. I've heard it's not so great with 35mm but I'm really happy with the quality from medium format scans.

March 16, 2010 - 7:53 pm Patrick Leung - Hi Jason, I just bought a Contax 645 and I'm looking into buying a budget scanner for my personal work. I looked into the Epson v700/v750 and was wondering if you're using the EpsonScan software or another software for best results. Cheers, Pat P.S. I love your work and came across your site via Flickr while I was scouring the net for film shooters =P

March 17, 2010 - 10:10 am Jason - Hi Pat. I tried out Silverfast but in the end just stuck with Epson Scan. It seems to do a pretty good job and is far easier to use and a lot more intuitive. It has worked well for me so far so will probably stick with it. Thanks for the kind words about our work.
