HI, WELCOME TO THE BLOG OF ST CLAIR PHOTOGRAPHY

We are wedding and portrait photographers based in New Zealand. We currently skip back and forth between Japan and New Zealand shooting everything from weddings to model portfolios and portrait sessions. We are available to shoot nationwide including Waikato / Auckland / Wellington / Christchurch / Dunedin, and also internationally. We shoot both medium format / 35mm film, and digital. Have fun looking through our photos, come back often and see what we're up to. We hope to hear from you whether you're interested in meeting with us, or just want to chat about photography.

Eyes barely open

Some shots that I took in Singapore on a Hasselblad 501cm. These were using the mirror lock up feature but seems to have not worked properly and created a sort of blinking photo. I quite like how they turned out and seem a lot more interesting as you can’t see the full frame but just a sliver. All shots were on Kodak T Max 400 and Kodak 160VC at f/2.8

October 16, 2009 - 9:09 pm Ari - Seems like you having heaps of fun why the MF cameras. Good shots too. Careful with polaroid in NZ, its damn expensive here, 6x the price here than in the US.. but can you put a price on fun? =) Ah and as for my new toys, a few vintage cameras here and there, but the star would be my new Mamiya C3. It is a brick, a beautiful brick. I'm not quite sure if I liked the Hassy or the Contax shots better. The Hassy has the details but I think the colours the Contax is giving you is more your style. Then again I don't know if you've post processed =D Do you have a weeding coming up soon to use it?

October 16, 2009 - 9:11 pm Ari - Yeah uh, wedding. Correction. And that was a with in the first sentence. Jeez why do you only notice mistakes after you've set them in stone.

October 16, 2009 - 9:23 pm Jason - Haha, I'm probably not shooting anymore weddings for the next couple of months as we're packing up everything to move back to NZ in January. Then shooting a wedding in the second week of January which all the gear will get a thorough work out! I didn't post process any of the film work, and I don't plan to either as it looks amazing after it's been processed. Part of the charm of shooting film I guess. I'll be getting all of my film in bulk from outside of NZ, a lot sent over from Tokyo! I don't ever plan to buy a roll of any film in NZ. Unless the lab I will be working with closely decides to better the prices...
