How can I not miss kids like this

I have a couple of blog posts to put up of some of the kids I taught here in Tokyo. It’s going to be impossible to not miss these little guys, some of them I will probably remember for the rest of my life. Leica M7, Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1, Fuji Natura 1600 film, Fuji...

Portrait Session | Viviane

A couple of days ago I had the chance to photograph our friend Viviane. She’s from Taiwan and is living here in Tokyo studying art. She’s also interested in photography and you can check out her site HERE. I’m waiting on developing the medium format roll shot on the Hasselblad until I get back to...

Japanese Food You Will Be Missed

I guess I’ll continue the list of things that I will miss about Japan. The food has to be at the top of the list, although most portions are minuscule in comparison to New Zealand the experience of eating in a nice restaurant is always amazing. This photo was taken in Ginza where you can...

Time Flies

I really can’t believe how fast this year has gone, it seems like only yesterday I started this blog. We both feel ready to start the next ‘chapter’ in our lives and what a new chapter it will be. Starting our wedding and photography business has been a challenge but we’re hoping it’s going to...

finish with a bang

So here is the final post from this portrait session, to me these photos are the icing on the cake. The portraits in this post are some of my favourites. The first three were shot underneath a tree in the shade and the colours came out just as I saw them. I probably sound like...

tick tock

Thought I would post up a photo from a while ago to break up the current portrait session I’ve been posting about. This photo was taken in Shinjuku and behind the tree you can see Docomo Tower. It stands at around 150m tall and has a clock which illuminates the Shinjuku night sky. The clock...

Portrait Session | Maasa Asano | V

Wow, and the shots keep coming. I should probably end this series soon so this will be the second to last post. Another portrait session is coming up in a couple of weeks so look out for that towards the end of the month, in the meantime I’ll post up some more personal work. Hasselblad...

Portrait Session | Maasa Asano | IV

Another location from the same portrait session with Maasa Asano. I can’t get over how a lot of these came out and they far exceeded Maasa’s expectations, and even my own. I got an “OMGGGGGG” response when she first saw the scans. I love the fact that I didn’t have to spend much time at...
